Verse: Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and always to be gentle toward everyone.
Devotion:
This command to the church describes model Christian citizenship. It is so much easier to be obedient, doing good, and peaceable when we have wise and good leaders over us. This is why God commands us to pray for those in authority. May God stir his church to intercede for leaders and future leaders. May we consider leaders as those who deserve our best service, and may our witness bring peace and good. May our lights shine throughout our culture, even through out the government.
Prayer:
Lord, hear our prayer. We seek your help to be the light of the world. Raise up new leaders that are good and peaceable, who will protect all your children, and who will follow a righteous standard. And forgive our hardness of heart.
