Verse: “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Devotion: When I was a kid my dad often had the same solution to every problem I had. He’d tell me, “put ice on it.” Bruised knee? Put ice on it. Broken heart? Put ice on it. It didn’t matter what the situation was, his response was always the same. I image “be still and know” is our Heavenly Father’s goto solution to all our problems. Because whether you’re worried about having enough to cover your bills, or if your loved one will overcome their illness, or even if your just worried about the future of our nation, the solution is to be still and know that he is God. He is still in control, he still holds the world, and he still loves you more than you could know. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed today—close your eyes, take a breath, and be still. Remember who your God is.
Prayer: Abba, we find our rest in you today. We choose to lift our eyes off of the problems that we face, and instead look to the mountain where our help comes from. We look to you, Jesus. We rest in you. Amen.
