Verse: “for kingship belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.”
Devotion: One nation under God. Our nations founders understood that while a man may sit in the Oval Office, only one King sits on the Throne. How can our nation, particularly the American Church, stand united through a season of differing opinions? We do it by remembering that we are first and foremost “citizens of heaven” (Phil. 3:20). We may have different views on some of the issues that face our nation today, but we can find commonality in our surrender to Jesus.
Prayer: Lord, we bow to the High King of Heaven. Let our words and deeds not be influenced by anything other than your Word. Having been transformed by the renewing of our mind, let us speak and act as You would. Holy Spirit, guide us in love and kindness. Amen.
