Water Baptism Day 2

Writer: Jonathan ZiglerJonathan Zigler

 Following His Example

Devotional: Sometimes the best way to learn is by following someone else's example. Think about learning to ride a bike - watching someone else do it first helps us understand how it's done. Jesus, despite being sinless, chose to be baptized at the beginning of His ministry. He didn't need to be cleansed from sin, yet He humbled Himself and set an example for us to follow. This shows us that baptism isn't just about washing away sins - it's about obedience, humility, and identifying with God's family. When we choose to be baptized, we're walking in Jesus's footsteps, demonstrating our desire to follow Him in every aspect of our lives.

Key Bible Verse: "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of His Spirit who lives in you." - Romans 8:11

Reflective Question: How does knowing that Jesus Himself was baptized influence your perspective on baptism?

Quote: We see Jesus, who is this sinless, the only sinless person there ever was. And even He gets baptized.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for showing us the way through your example. Help me to follow you faithfully, not just in baptism but in every area of my life. Give me the courage to walk in your footsteps. Amen.
