Breaking Social Barriers
Devotional: Jesus didn't just serve - He revolutionized who we serve. In His time, society had clear lines about who was worthy of attention and who wasn't. But Jesus deliberately crossed these boundaries. He reached out to the outcasts, the marginalized, and those whom society had rejected. He didn't limit His service to the religious elite or those who could enhance His status. Instead, He intentionally sought out those who could offer nothing in return. This radical approach to service challenges us to examine our own biases and limitations in serving others. Are we willing to step outside our comfort zones and serve those who might be different from us?
Bible Verse: 'Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges.' - Philippians 2:5-8
Reflection Question: What social barriers or personal prejudices might be limiting your willingness to serve certain people or groups?
Quote: Jesus served the people that society said were unworthy of their time. He went to people that wouldn't step foot in a church. He went to people that could not give him anything.
Prayer: Father, give me courage to break down the walls that prevent me from serving all people. Help me see others through Your eyes and serve them with Your love. Amen.
