Verse: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Devotion: It’s easy to look at the world, and like the psalmist ask, “why do the wicked prosper?” Is righteousness worth the effort? Paul says our good works will reap a proper harvest if we do not give up. Choosing to love our enemies, stand on our principles, and hold fast to the standard of holiness we are called to can be difficult. It’s important that when we grow tired of doing good, we remember that in our weakness he is strong.

Prayer: Lord, strengthen us today. Embolden us to continue to do what is right, even in the face of scrutiny. We acknowledge our deficiencies today, and we lean into your strength. Holy Spirit, ready us for the “good works, which you have prepared in advance for us to do.”
