Verse: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Devotion: This was Paul’s prayer for the church. That we’d be filled with joy and peace as we trusted Him through hardship. I believe he prayed this because he knew the best way for the Church to impact the world around them was by having joy and peace through trials. Paul knew that joy and peace would produce a hope, not only for us, but for everyone that witnesses our perseverance. I can’t think of a better time to display that joy and peace than in a divisive political season where everyone is freaking out. As Christians, let’s walk this season out with joy and peace as we trust God for the future of our nation. As we do that, our hope will overflow onto the world around us.
Prayer: God, fill us with joy unexplainable and peace that passes beyond our understanding as we trust in you. Fill us with a hope that overflows. Let our hope be our witness during this season. Amen.
