Verse: “Be ready. The time’s coming”—God’s Decree—“when I will plant people and animals in Israel and Judah, just as a farmer plants seed. And in the same way that earlier I relentlessly pulled up and tore down, took apart and demolished, so now I am sticking with them as they start over, building and planting.”
Devotion: When God began creation, he designed it to go through seasons. A season of planting, a season of growth, a season of harvest and a season of death. Our lives, and the life of our nation, are no different. There are seasons where we are being torn apart—where God is disrupting what has been and tilling the soil. We have to go through those hard times in order to get to seasons of growth and harvest. This passage tells us that God is with us in all seasons, relentlessly working for our good.
Prayer: God, we thank you for the seasons where you are pruning us back and disrupting what has been. Thank you for always working for our good. I pray that you would give us the strength, hope, and wisdom to make it through the hard times. Lord, lead us into a prosperous new season. Amen.
