Verse: The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.
Devotion: A long time ago someone explained to me that God’s “kingdom” is where his word and his ways are followed. It made me think about Jesus’ teaching on prayer. He came from a place where God’s kingdom/throne had already been established. So having observed the perfection that comes from following God’s way, he encouraged us to pray “your kingdom come, on earth as in heaven.” When we see the impurities that fill our world, like Jesus, we should be filled with a fire to pray “on earth as in heaven.”
Prayer: God, may your throne be established on earth as it has been in heaven. Revive our hearts and rule over our church, our city, and our nation. Amen.
